I mean, GAMMA is specifically a modpack for people who want to interact with the weapon repair systems and stuff... The Escape from Pripyat modpack would likely fit a weak-lunged, noodle armed tarkov PMC who isn't used to chainsmoking while holding a KS-23 with one hand in case a mutant jumps out much better

lol good review. I’m glad you able to explain the Stalker factions in simple terms. And the world around it. A lot fans would make a paragraphs for each factions and I would get lost or confused about the factions.

The overly complicated medical and repair system are usually what kills Stalker mods for me. Just make it like Fallout NV in my opinion.

Honestly i never understood why people straight up jump to anomaly or GAMMA without playing the vanilla base games first Its always harder to get into stalker without experiencing CoP and SoC (screw clear sky), as they are pretty easy games that explain a lot of lore and mechanics making GAMMA easier to digest along with its 3 bajillion other mechanics that would confuse someone getting into S.T.A.L.K.E.R for the first time

I love STALKER. ANAMOLY sucks. Ignore ANAMOLY variants and just play STALKER and non-ANAMOLY mods.

It should be clarified that Gamma is a massive mod pack for STALKER: Anomaly. The two experiences are drastically different. I’ve heard pretty mixed things on Gamma, but base Anomaly as far as I remember fixed most of what you have issues with! Would highly recommend trying it. Can even mod it, but no matter what you do modded Anomaly can just explode randomly.

Good video but you should give it more of a chance after learning the slightly arcane mechanics. Weapon repair system isn't that bad, you just get the right items and badaboom your gun is 100% condition and never jams (with full damage) You dont need to replace parts, you just need a full set of parts and then you only have to repair them back up to 100 as needed. The item you need depends on the type of weapon and you just craft it at a workbench. None of it is that brutal it's just not explained at all in the game Sorry bro there's definitely a progression and it doesn't take that long once you learn the crafting. You didn't even run around chernobyl as an invincible exoskeleton Chad, immune to all enemies

I'd recommend clarifying that this is a mod pack instead of constantly calling it a standalone "game". $20 somebody makes the wrong assumption and starts twitter drama lol.

From what it sounds like, you like all the parts that are inherent to a STALKER mod pack, and hate the tedious additions that GAMMA added. For most people I'd recommend another modpack, and if u like the gunplay just install the individual mod that adds that. I personally am not a fan. The original STALKER feels hard but fair. GAMMA feels tedious.

Too hard people are too dumb to look at mod manager and set up your game how you like. But people can bitch about it.

As others have probably said: repair kits for guns do not decrease their uses when you have the weapon parts you need. The uses go down when you repair the gun durability or replace a part with a pristine one made from thin air, using one use per part

honestly you shouldnt base the stalker series on anomaly. i recommend other mod packs like nomad or expedition where its more story focus or exploring the world instead of just absolutely pain and hardcore survival. (also not really related but the guy who made the mod pack of stalker gamma is not a very good dude)

You might like STALKER EFP modpack it’s just as atmospheric but plays a little differently. I think it has a good balance of survival and warfare. I couldn’t get into GAMMA like I did EFP

Yess, the game is slow and grinder, but you have goals that are rewarding, you might try EFP altho its not that beautifull if you want single player Tarkov.

Seeing the PKM and PKP in D tier is depressing because I love them so much lol. 7.62x39 just doesn’t hit like 7.62x54R. The PKP is what I used to farm the boss event on Shoreline and Reserve.

You should try escape from pripyat, I'd say it's a nice alternative to gamma.

I had so much fun tackling that exact camp of renegades, I had nothing but a makarov with like 20 bullets and a bandage and I managed to slowly but surely pick them out a couple at a time, when they locked onto me I would run like hell to the clear sky base, outside of it were a couple houses I used as cover and to run around when they tried to flank me, I died like 6 times doing all this song and dance but eventually killed some of them, sold their loot and got more ammo and meds so I could keep thinning them out until eventually raiding the 2 guys left in the base, the loot was great, even got a cool gun that looked kinda like an aug that had a functional barrel I stashed to repair eventually The game IS brutal but it pushes you to be better and create stories of every single little encounter, most people probably know him but Drewski really showcases these aspects of GAMMA, no hate on anyone who doesn't like it tho, it is very niche but it's also freaking FREE so trying it out to see if it's your next obsession doesn't hurt, if anything the atmosphere is worth giving it a shot

PLAY THE ORIGINAL GAMES OR ATLEAST THE UNMODDED ANOMALY, DO NOT START WITH GAMMA!

I finished all 3 GAMMA questlines, planning to do an invictus run some time in the future, worth mentioning that i'm playing various STALKER games from like the age of 10. I personally like the crafting system, but i upped the starting numbers for condition and item drops so that farming like 40 military textile isn't THAT tedious. Also Exo's dropping chance is absoulutely ridiculous, that really needs a change no matter what's your other config is like. Also, some people do not seem to get that: try to get fun.

I would recommend playing STALKER Anomaly if GAMMA wasn't really to your liking. GAMMA is more like getting kicked in the balls repeatedly while Anomaly is being punched in the face.

What I cant stand is how EVERYTHING slows you down. Radiation is one thing but the second every little thing makes my 5 minute walk into a 20+ mins for no critical reason like a leg injury is just annoying.

Personally I just use cheats when playing Gamma to give myself certain stuff, whenever I buy a weapon kit I toss it and use the item menu to spawn one in with 50 uses. Stuff like that lets me enjoy the modpack, without having to deal with the most obnoxious choices.

Basically, everything mentioned in this video about GAMMA is what I love about the game: the craft, the healing/limbs system, the weaponry, the atmosphere, the music. All the hardships you go through to eventually fix a gun and then kill someone with it...God, it doesn't get more satisfying than that, trust me! And the progression system is what makes this game good at any level/equipment

dude as a og stalker fan I strongly recommend that you try stalker anomaly : expedition 2.3 it provides a better experience with awesome texture packs and audio overhaul ,it in my opinion also provides a more faithful experience to the original games ,it also fix's the broken weapon gimmick a lot by giving you better condition guns on pick ups

I had finished my Invictus playthrough with a merc it wasn't easy at all with everything being at 30% durability and most advanced armor being locked by expert tools, most but not all. And since I got HOWA 20 and best medium suit Mercenaries Ace Scientific suit around 15 hours mark I'd set for success until I came to Prypiat' and get like 2-3 fps and chimera just came inside the buidling I barely was able to jump out of a balcony on roof.

Only way I stayed alive in the the “Defense against Renegades” mission was by using a high powered sniper and repeatedly popping up and down to hit a headshot. It didn’t work the first time though, it was about 6 times or so 😂

Stalker gamma is cool as hell but when I’m looking for expert tools for a total of 10 or so hours in between 2 separate streams it’s fucking stupid on the amount of tedium they wanna force upon me, especially so when I know the game and it’s mechanics like the back of my own hand
